Rituals and Traditions

1. House Cleaning & Decoration: People clean their homes and decorate entrances with mango leaves and colorful rangolis.
2. Oil Bath & New Clothes: A traditional oil bath is taken early in the morning, followed by wearing new clothes.
3. Puja & Offerings: Special prayers are offered to seek blessings for the coming year.
4. Ugadi Pachadi: This unique dish is a blend of six different flavors—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, spicy, and tangy—symbolizing the various emotions of life.
5. Panchanga Sravanam: Astrologers read out the predictions for the year ahead, a tradition deeply rooted in Vedic astrology.

Ugadi Delicacies

Apart from Ugadi Pachadi, homes are filled with the aroma of festive dishes like Pulihora (tamarind rice), Bobbatlu (sweet flatbread), and Payasam (kheer). These delicacies add to the joy of the celebration.
